Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings

What a high energy show!
The Dap Kings are on some of Amy Winehouse's recordings but have a powerhouse singer in their own right in Sharon Jones. This woman made Tina Turner look restrained. Jones can really sing and has a big voice backed by a tight soulful 8 piece band in the Dap Kings. In a way, I felt the show was almost too high energy as Jones summoned fans in the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale on the stage to dance with her [and there were good dancers in the crowd]. It was very entertaining and the fans enjoyed the audience participation.
I wished to hear more of the Dap Kings soul sound and thought that a couple of slower numbers would have shown off the band and showcased Jones' great voice.
All in all though, an enjoyable evening.
