Two men. One on guitar. One on Drums. How can this be so loud? Scott Lucas and new drummer Ryan Harding bring everything that rock and roll requires and begs the question, what does a band need five members for anyways? The Chicago natives are no strangers to the High Noon Saloon having played the venue as recently as September 2013. That show saw the last rounds that Brian St. Clair was making behind the kits, so the band had a lot to show off this time around.

They wasted no time convincing the crowd they hadn't taken any steps back. Harding has the standards down pat, and the new material sounds amazing. The two piece doesn't have any intention of getting quieter or more subtle. New track "Mansplainer" opened the show and had me convinced that the momentum gained over the last two albums wasn't slipping a bit. This is a visceral experience. Music that makes you move, driving rock and roll without any of the distracting frills. When they do slow down a bit with a track like "Hands on the Bible," it's still brought with an intensity that propels it past any notion that they're heading towards a ballad. Balls to wall rock will never die, and Local H is happy playing the gatekeeper.
