We'd been warned about seeing Liars. Rumour has it that the frontman is a crazy monkey, hell bent on disrupting the audience, swinging from the lights and insulting your mother.

And the truth isn't far from that: Angus Andrew screams, gurns, prances about and cackles like The Joker from Batman - but crucially, he does all this while some of the most exciting, apocalypse-pop music on earth is conducted in the background.

Considering they'd been previously lumped in with acts such as Foals, Liars are actually more accessable than their math-rock counterparts. They may approach things with the attitudes of revolutionaries, but a simple melodic aesthetic lurks within.

Thrilling and unpredictable, Liars are like The Doors had Jim Morrison lived, and the band gone art-rock. And surely they're worth catching for that alone?
