Last Saturday I had the privilege to see Move the Earth, whose music is very intimate and overwhelmingly powerful, for the third time this year. The members are all very lively and seem to thrive on pleasing the crowd. I really feel like each musician in the band shines in their own way and are, thus, deserving of recognition.

First mention goes to the vocalist and rhythm guitar player, Ryan Keogan, who provides the most convincing vocals I've heard in a long time and his guitar gives a perfect foundation for the rest of the band. He regularly talks to the audience and forms a solid connection which is something that I find lacking within most live performances. On lead, Patrick Herrick III's polyphonic melodies and solos seep right into you and are very memorable. He is very confident as he steps to the front of the stage for solos giving off the aura of someone who regularly plays in well-reputed sold out venues.

In the rhythm section, Lucas Adams on bass, goes all over the fret board using innovative techniques and progressions; his style is groove oriented while being incredibly melodic and can often be found dancing around having the time of his life on stage. The drummer, Matt Schmidt, has machine-like timing and his clever fills keep the music moving in full force. I can without a doubt say that he is one of the best drummers in town and, although behind a drum set, Matt still manages to taunt the audience making for a dramatic performance.

All in all, Move the Earth is composed of grade-A musicians that put on a very exciting show. I really enjoy seeing these guys live every time I get a chance. They write great music, their performance is impressive, and they seem to form a bond with the audience which is something I haven't seen a band do in quite awhile. I will definitely be seeing them again and I would highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys hard rock and a great show.
