Czar opened for Killing Joke on Friday 4/19/13 at the Irving Plaza NYC.Czar --sort of a Chicago meat packing frat punk outfit not worth reviewing---good musicians, bad band, unintelligible lyrics, message, etc. Ignore them.

Killing Joke  struggles with their monster catalog--they have so many great songs that there were at least a dozen favorites that they did not play. Jaz looked healthy and sounded strong, Youth was on it, Geordie was a monster but the sound was muddled, Paul (drummer) was also on it but the drums were poorly mic'd --lots of bleed and no definition.

I think KJ generalists will enjoy the show since there was a wide mix from their old material to the new album 2012. My problem was that there was a weiny armed dope who claimed to have a 150 IQ that danced like a little girl through the whole thing and was annoying. I have a feeling audiences are going to be a barrier to enjoyment where ever KJ plays because there are lots of older guys that have not quite gotten their punk teenage daydream like this poseur out of their system.

Very English--which means--not much of a show between the show, no intro of the band, no "Hey NEW YORK CITY --YOU READY TO PARTY!!!??? All fine with me. Just don't expect to have the sonic experience of a life time. Just go because they are the great Post Punk band that are living legends.
