The Dillinger Escape Plan

Ten Years ago, The Dillinger Escape Plan burst onto the international hardcore and metal scenes with their draw-dropping technical metalcore. They've released three albums, leaving a trail of broken musicians (they've been through four guitars, two bassists, a drummer and a vocalist) and progressing with each step of destruction. Only one member of the original line-up remains.
And with the live show they put on, its obvious how they've gone through so many different band members. From the off, the stage is a blur of dry ice and strobe lighting, the members of the band occasionally piercing the fog - to be pretentious - like form arising from the chaos, echoing their music.
Considering how the short some of the members have been with them (guitarist Jeff Tuttle joined Oct 2007), it's surprising how tight they are. Songs come from all releases: the classics of "Sugar Coasted" Sour and "43% Burnt" mixing well with choice picks of the most recent album, Ire Works.
As their all-too-brief set comes to a finish, as vocalist Greg Puciato taunts the mosh pit with a crash symbol (did they ever get it back), the band climbs the balconies either side of the stage of the LA2: one guitarist finishing a song in an arm chair by the bar and disappear into the backstage area before the crowd can mob them. There is no encore, there is no need.
