Willie is a true American original and put on an entertaining show at the Hard Rock Live supported by his 'family' which included his sister, Bobbi and one of his sons [Luke, a great blues guitar player].
Willie has a great warm and depth to his highly original voice and still sings and plays with heart, precision and stamina. He could entertain all by himself but the band adds interest and variation. He is also a great song writer [remember Crazy; which he sang] and it was almost a surprise when he announced playing someone else's songs. A strength of country music is the ability to listen to all the song's words and Willie's are witty, wry and wistful. I also enjoyed the blues songs featuring his son's guitar and a traditional rock and roll number.
All in all the show exuded warmth and tender hearted feeling for an hour and a half.
Although Willie seems to tour constantly [he must be doing something right], I recommend catching this American original sooner rather than later.
The opening act was Jamey Johnson, a middle of the road country band.
