What a surprise! Not Karaoke after all. Ringo and his friends put on a fabulous show at the Hard Rock.

I went expecting a show with plenty of sing alongs with well worn and tired favorites and some of those were there. What I was not expecting was the standard of playing and how interesting the variety of songs would be. The band of seasoned pros included 2 stand outs- Edgar Winter and Billy Squier. The others including Colin Hay, Hamish Stuart and Gary Wright were not too shabby either!

The whole show was MC'ed by the genial and affable Ringo who kept great rapport with the audience. While Ringo's singing may not be the best it was clear that everyone enjoyed playing with him and he took turns singing and drumming. Watching Ringo was like watching a reallife cartoon character but its impossible not to warm to him. The question in my mind: is he increrdibly shrewd with who he picks to play with or do musicians seek him out because of his fun and friendliness? I loved several songs in particular : Work To Do, an Isley Brothers cover, Love is Alive by Gary Wright, Edgar Winter's Frankenstein and Billy Squier's The Stroke. The bands' version of Boys was probably as close to hearing the Beatles as anyone will get now.

All in all a highly enjoyable and long [2 1/4 hour] show.
