Jon Bon Jovi played a one off 'solo' show at the Hard Rock Live,
Hollywood. The first thing that should be said is that the band ' The
Kings of Suburbia' were absolutely fabulous! This 10 piece band with 2
backing singers and including a brass and violinist played as well and
enthusiastically as I've heard in along time.

I've never been a Bon Jovi fan but Jon put on a great show. Not the
greatest singer but engaging and natural, his song selection (apart from
the cliched Shout!) was spot on and engaged the crowd immediately ( not
easy at the Hard Rock). The sound was outstanding all the way through
and I particularly liked his versions of 'Old Time Rock and Roll' and
'Sympathy for the Devil', two favorites of mine played as well as I ever
heard. Jon really knocked it of the park with the less well known
Leonard Cohen 'I'm Your Man'..simply magic.

It was a longish show - 2 hours plus and the crowd were as engaged as
middle aged folks can get and demanded an encore when Jon did a decent
version of Hallelujah concluding with the slightly strange choice of
Wilson Pickett's 6345789.

As this was a one off I would buy a recording ( there isn't one) and
will definitely look out for shows by the Kings of Suburbia.

Classic rock at its best.
